Description

 Aogán Ó Rathaille

This is the first readers’ edition of the work of Aogán Ó Rathaille (1670–1728), the foremost poet of early modern Ireland. It includes a masterly introduction locating the poet and his work in wider historical and literary contexts and extensive notes and glossaries. It is an invaluable resource for teachers and students of Irish literature.

Breandán Ó Buachalla (1936–2010) was the leading authority on the literature of early-modern Ireland. His other books include An Caoine agus an Chaointeoireacht (1998), Aisling Ghéar (1996) and I mBéal Feirste Cois Cuain (1968, 1978). He was the O’Donnell Chair in Irish Language and Literature at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana.
