The next Seamus Deane Annual Lectures on the theme of ‘The Right to Have Rights’ will be 20 October in the Playhouse in Derry, Conor Kenny of Médecins Sans Frontières will discuss his first-hand experience of EU migration centres in Greece. Also at 7pm.


Also on the programme in Derry:  Donegal fiddle player Dermot McLaughlin, actor Stephen Rea, a talk by Seamus Deane on the theme of ‘The Right to Have Rights’, and a Q&A session with lawyer and activist Michael Farrell.

The first event took place on 14 October in Galway, where Judge Bryan McMahon spoke on the theme of direct provision. See a poetry reading by Christiana Obaro at the event here. More videos to follow very soon.

Also on the programme were: Paddy Glackin performing new music by Neil Martin, a reading from poet Jessica Traynor and local direct provision activist Blessing Siphathisiwe Moyo.
